Learn how to professionally edit and improve your writing for the Australian workplace.

This course covers essential skills for Skilled Migrants to better approach and succeed in the Australian employment market, focusing on English language usage in many settings. It augments existing core services delivered by SECC’s Skilled Migrant Mentor Program and is recommended for those less confident and comfortable with Australian English language usage, interpretation and nuance in professional settings.

Learners will gain several benefits from completing this unit, including but not limited to:

  • write clear and accurate routine workplace documents
  • communicate information effectively in reports, emails, and messages
  • apply writing skills to support daily workplace tasks and record-keeping.

By the end of this course, participants will learn how to professionally edit and improve their writing for the Australian workplace. The goal of workplace writing is usually to be clear, concise, and collaborative rather than overly formal or flowery. Your writing will no longer flag you as someone unfamiliar with the local culture, but rather highlight your technical competence via a clear, professional Australian lens.

The ability to competently write formal and informal texts is essential for progression in the Australian workplace. Candidates need to clearly communicate ideas, instructions and processes in suitable written formats.
