Welcome to Sydney East Community College. We are a charity. Helping to build vibrant, successful, confident and equitable communities through education is why we exist.
Since 1952 we have delivered adult community education services reflecting the values of lifelong, place-based learning. We offer short courses, skillsets and mandatory qualifications to help you gain the confidence, skills and knowledge to follow your life pathway, further your education or get a job.
This website identifies our current offerings and enables you to contact us to receive guidance and further your learning needs and interests.
Because we offer both fee for service and government subsided training for those eligible, our pre-enrolment process tests for suitability and eligibility. This process can be a little daunting, but it’s worth it and we’ll be with you all the way.
Not everyone is comfortable using web-based systems and navigating the required paths can be challenging. If this is you, don’t give up! Please contact us by telephone or email and we will support you by getting to know your needs and interests. We will guide you to suitable opportunities that are right for you and lead to your success.
Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) refers to vocational or education courses that meet the standards set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). These include training packages, qualifications, units of competency, skill sets, accredited courses and accredited units/modules.
The NRT logo is the identifying mark for promoting and certifying national vocational education and training (VET) leading to Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) certification documentation.
Only approved Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) may provide nationally registered training and issue a statement of attainment or qualification for it. You can view lists of all nationally registered training and all approved RTOs on the National Training Register at www.training.gov.au
Sydney East Community College operates RTO 90269. We provide skill sets, accredited courses, units of competency and accredited units/modules. We do not provide full training packages or qualifications. We also provide non-accredited units of competency and courses.
On our website you will find the NRT logo displayed next to the accredited skill sets, accredited courses, units of competency and accredited units/modules that we provide.
Sometimes providers will offer both accredited and non-accredited courses in the same subject or skill. Check carefully to understand the difference and which best meet your needs.
Please contact us if you have questions about nationally recognised training.
