Develop improved and effective English language resume and cover letter skills including how to write: a ‘skimmable’ resume and create your personal profile; your capability statements; your employment history; a human-voiced cover letter.

This course covers essential skills for Skilled Migrants to better approach and succeed in the Australian employment market, focusing on English language usage in many settings. It augments existing core services delivered by SECC’s Skilled Migrant Mentor Program and is recommended for those less confident and comfortable with Australian English language usage, interpretation and nuance in professional settings.

Learners will gain several benefits from completing this unit, including but not limited to:

  • develop effective resumes and cover letters tailored to job opportunities
  • highlight skills and achievements to attract employer attention
  • improve chances of securing job interviews through professional applications.

By the end of the course, participants will have increased confidence in job seeking through understanding employer expectations and the job application process in Australia. They will have developed a resume and cover letter that highlights their transferable skills, experience, and capabilities in each job application.

In a competitive job market, a “winning” resume and cover letter is essential to progress further in the recruitment process.
