This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body.

Learners must have the necessary language, literacy and numeracy skills to interpret and apply relevant information to commence learning in this program. Learners will be required to undergo a pre-enrolment assessment to determine their Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) capability. This test aligns with the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) which describes the outcomes of foundational skills relevant to the level of this program. The outcomes of this assessment will indicate whether a learner is suitable for the course or whether they require additional educational and support services, reasonable adjustment or referral to other training or services.

Knowledge acquired will be assessed through a combination of Knowledge Questions and Performance tasks such as research project, product base, oral questioning and any other assessment method deemed appropriate by the College.
The course is partially completed in one day and then students must complete some performance assessment tasks outside class. Students have three months to complete all three tasks, including meeting with the assessor (either in person or virtually) to complete the oral questioning task.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following unit:
