FSKOCM003 – Participate in familiar spoken interactions at work
This unit develops students’ confidence and competence in everyday workplace communication, including speaking with colleagues, supervisors, and customers in routine situations.
SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell, serve, or supply alcohol in any licensed venue, including hospitality outlets, packaged liquor stores, wineries, breweries, and distilleries. It applies to all staff involved in alcohol service, including attendants, salespersons, cellar door staff, delivery personnel, security staff, and licensees. The unit addresses state and territory liquor laws and core RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) requirements. SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices
This unit covers safe food handling during storage, preparation, display, service, and disposal. It applies to food handlers in kitchens, cafes, bars, restaurants, hospitals, aged care, events, transport catering, and similar settings. Practices follow an organisation’s food safety program, usually based on HACCP. Food handlers—including cooks, chefs, kitchen staff, and beverage attendants—must comply with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Some regions require a certified food safety supervisor, and local authorities should be consulted for legislative and accreditation requirements.

Learners must have the necessary language, literacy and numeracy skills to interpret and apply relevant information to commence learning in this program. Learners will be required to undergo a pre-enrolment assessment to determine their Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) capability. This test aligns with the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) which describes the outcomes of foundational skills relevant to the level of this program. The outcomes of this assessment will indicate whether a learner is suitable for the course or whether they require additional educational and support services, reasonable adjustment or referral to other training or services.
