Meet with other program participants and develop your job-seeking skills including: how to answer “target questions“ listed in the job ads; how to tailor your cover letter; how to develop your personal “pitch“; how to develop your job seeking strategy.
This course covers essential skills for Skilled Migrants to better approach and succeed in the Australian employment market, focusing on English language usage in many settings. It augments existing core services delivered by SECC’s Skilled Migrant Mentor Program and is recommended for those less confident and comfortable with Australian English language usage, interpretation and nuance in professional settings.

By the end of the course, participants will have increased confidence in job seeking through understanding employer expectations and the job application process in Australia. They will have developed strategies to maximise the application of transferable skills, experience, and capabilities in each job application.
To progress in the job application process, candidates need to understand what employers are asking for in a job advertisement and then respond appropriately.

Prospective learners must be job-seeking skilled migrants or refugees with Functional English. SECC will assess your English language and employability skills to ensure this course is suitable for your learning needs.
