This course aims to assist learners to build their oral communication skills including basic grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and non-verbal communication skills. It focuses on general language used in the Australian workplace.

The learners are CALD job-seeking refugees from the Ukraine. The course is non-accredited.

Learners will gain several benefits from completing this unit, including but not limited to:

  • speak confidently with accurate Australian English pronunciation.
  • participate effectively in everyday Australian conversations.
  • improve listening and communication skills for social and workplace settings.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to: accurately pronounce simple English language words appropriate to the workplace; use oral communication strategies in one-to-one exchanges; recognise and use simple non-verbal communication methods.

Improving conversation and pronunciation skills is a significant step toward navigating the Australian job market and makes candidates more competitive for the following roles:

  • disability support
  • logistic & delivery.

Prospective learners must be 15 years of age or over and recently-arrived Ukrainian refugees.

Basic spoken English and listening skills for everyday and workplace communication.

Learners will participate in two different short, simple and explicit spoken exchanges and demostrate the ability to complete the tasks in accordance with the Lrearning Outcomes: accurately pronounce simple English language words appropriate to the workplace; use oral communication strategies in one-to-one exchanges; recognise and use simple non-verbal communication methods.

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Attendance.
